Community Recycling Centres

Community Recycling Centres (CRC's) provide residents the opportunity to recycle a wide range of household waste items.

There are two Community Recycling centres in Leicester. These can be found at:

The HWRC’s have the facilities to accept the following:

• Cement bonded Asbestos (Freemen’s Common only) limited to 8 sheets per visit and will ONLY be accepted if called in prior to arrival on site
• Asbestos (Freemens Common Only) - limited to 8 sheets per visit, and will ONLY be accepted if double wrapped
• Bicycles (Bikes for All Project)
• Books
• Car batteries
• Cans
• Cardboard
• CDs
• Clothes/shoes
• Cooking oil
• Electrical equipment
• Fluorescent tubes
• Furniture
• Gas Bottles (Empty)
• Glass
• Green waste (Grass cuttings and Clippings)
• Household batteries
• Ink jet cartridges Laser/inkjet cartridges (Charity - Tommy's)
• Metal
• Mobile phones (Charity - Help the Aged)
• Paint
• Paper
• Plastic Bottles
• Soil / Hardcore (maximum 6 x 25kg bags)
• Spectacles (Charity - Help the Aged)
• Used Engine Oil
• Video tapes
• Wood (inc chipboard and MDF)
• White goods (fridges etc)

To help make your visit as quick as possible and to reduce waiting times, please sort your recyclables before visiting the site and ensure they are put in the correct skip.

We must stress that these sites are for household waste only – WE DO NOT ACCEPT COMMERCIAL OR TRADE WASTE

Both sites are open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. The sites are open 8am to 8pm (April-Sept) and 8 am to 6 pm (Oct-March)*

*These times change in line with the clocks going backwards and forwards in line with British Summer Time.
