Community Recycling Centres (CRCs)

Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) give all Leicester residents the opportunity to recycle a wide range of household waste and help to create a better environment.

There are two Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) in Leicester.

1) Bridge Road
(Off Spence Street)
Leicester
Open: 8am to 8 pm (April-Sept) 8 am to 6 pm(Oct-March)

2) Islington Street
Freemens Common
Leicester
Open: 8am to 8 pm(April-Sept) 8 am to 6 pm(Oct-March)

The Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) are open every day except Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years day.

The CRCs have the facilities for recycling:

• Asbestos (Freemens Common Only) 
• Batteries (car batteries only)
• Bicycles (Bikes for All Project)
• Books
• Cans
• Cardboard
• CDs  
• Clothes/shoes
• Electrical equipment
• Fluorscent tubes
• Furniture
• Gas Bottles (Empty)
• Glass
• Green waste (Grass cuttings and Clippings)
• Ink jet cartridges Laser/inkjet cartridges (Charity - Tommy's)
• Metal
• Mobile phones (Charity - Help the Aged)
• Paint
• Paper
• Plastic Bottles
• Soil / Hardcore (maximum 5 bin bags or equivalent)
• Spectacles (Charity - Help the Aged)
• Used Engine Oil
• Video tapes
• Wood (inc chipboard and MDF) 
• White goods (fridges etc)

Household waste ONLY is accepted at the Community Recycling Centres (CRCs), no commercial and trade waste is accepted


To help make your visit as quick as possible and to reduce waiting times, please sort your recyclables before visiting the site and ensure they are put in the correct skip.
